Born out of necessity, the Black River Film Society (BRFS) was created to help consolidate cultivate and promote all of the Blue Water Areas wonderful film screenings, premieres, workshops, festivals and special events.
Black River Film Societies headline event is Desmond District Demons International Horror Film Festival (DDD). Now going into its 5th year the audience has grown year over year as well as local filmmaker interest. In an attempt to help facilitate relationships this year DDD will be hosting a fine art show along side the film festival to help introduce state wide artists and filmmakers in hopes of making future collaborations.
BRFS believes in experience. Film is a collaborative medium and should be enjoyed as such, which is why we continue to expand our programming throughout the year. Hosting first run Independent films (Stockholm, Tough Guy: The Bob Probert Story and Sincerely Brenda) we strive to help start conversation about film. Expanding to free outdoor movie screenings of classics Black River Movie Night is BRFS newest endeavor to bring great film to our community for free.
